​My Journey with AI, Gen-Z, and Smarter Student Choices

Like many students, I spent endless hours searching for the “best” apps, deals, and tools to navigate student life. But the process was frustrating. Instead of finding genuinely helpful advice, I was met with ads, SEO-driven content, and brand-sponsored lists that often overlooked what students actually need. I knew there had to be a better way—and I wanted to create it.

 

The Foundation of GAIO

Before launching StudentTop10, I developed GAIO v2, an early tool designed to analyze how generative AI models perceive brands, products, and services. GAIO was initially built for companies, helping them understand how systems like ChatGPT and Gemini interpreted their offerings and how they could improve their brand reputation.

Through this work, I noticed a seismic shift: the way people searched for information was evolving.

Rather than turning to Google as a default, users were increasingly asking chatbots direct questions. Search habits were changing, and this had significant implications—not just for brands, but for how we all find and trust information.

 

Transforming AI Technology into a Student Resource

That realization sparked an idea: what if the same advanced AI technology that helps big brands could also empower students to make smarter, unbiased decisions?

And so, StudentTop10 was born.

We tap into over 2,000 trusted sources—including student discussions, Reddit threads, chatbot Q&As, news articles, reviews, and product websites—to create rankings that reflect what students truly use and trust. There’s no promotional fluff, no overwhelming research—just honest, straightforward recommendations powered by AI and driven by the interests of Gen-Z students.
